Grizzlies Return To Fresno For Playoff Push
The homestand kicks off as the Grizzlies open a four-game set against the I-Cubs, managed by Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, with Friday Night Fireworks, presented by ScholarShare College Savings Plan, and Friday the 13th Night on, what else, Friday, August 13th. Come out and enjoy the best pyrotechnics display in the Valley following the game as well as a performance from the Grizzlies' world-famous dancing grounds crew, the Drag Kings, presented by Tickets.com. The game will feature a distinctive Friday the 13th theme, as the Grizzlies host a tribute to all things Triskaidekaphobic (a fear of the number 13), superstitious and spooky. Also on Friday, the FRITOS® search for the best hometown chili is coming to Chukchansi Park during The FRITOS® brand Chili Cook-Off finals. Make sure you're here to see who takes the crown. One of our three finalists will claim the title of the best chili in Fresno and a $500 Save Mart Supermarkets gift certificate.
Saturday, August 14th will be all about the best mascot in Minor League Baseball, Parker. Be one of the first 2,500 through the gates for the Parker Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by Wendy's, featuring the mischievous mascot in one of his most memorable poses. It will also be Mascot Wrestling Night at Chukchansi Park, as Parker will host a good-natured battle royal for supremacy of costumed characters from around the Valley.
Sunday, August 15th marks another Save Mart Sunday, presented by Save Mart Supermarkets. First, fans will also have a chance to meet the stars of the future at the Future Giants Autograph Session. Then everyone can enjoy a Family Catch on the Field, as the Grizzlies invite you to come out and have a pregame catch on the grass at Chukchansi Park. Following the game, kids 12 and under can take the field and Run The Bases, presented by Subway, just like their favorite Grizzlies players.
August 13th-15th also marks the Community Fund Weekend at Chukchansi Park. Each day, the Grizzlies Community Fund will present a different theme for the night, providing Grizzlies fans great opportunities to take home memorabilia and collectibles while supporting a great cause. All proceeds will benefit the Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund. Friday, August 13th will be the Grizzlies Gallery that will capture the essence of Grizzlies baseball by allowing fans to bid on limited-edition photographs of your favorite players, stadium scenes and incredible moments of the 2010 season. Saturday, will feature Game Worn Caps and Sunday is the Favorite Things Auction where Grizzlies wives will be auctioning off their players favorite things. The Community Fund auctions will be held on the main concourse and will close each night at 8:00pm.
The series with Iowa concludes Monday, August 16th with another Monday Madness, presented by ABC 30. Fans can enjoy a family entertainment package that includes two Field Level Reserve tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas, two Wild Water Adventure Park passes and two Blackbeard's Mini Golf passes. The series and homestand conclude on Friday, August 20th with another edition of Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Christian's Mattress Xpress. Friday also brings with it the Grizzlies' final theme jersey of 2010, a Kid-Created Theme Jersey designed in conjunction with Girl Scouts at Bat. Girl Scouts from around the Valley submitted their designs earlier in the season, and Junior Girl Scout Caty Otero from Troop 695 of Fresno was chosen through an online poll on the Grizzlies' Facebook page to have her design used as inspiration for the jerseys the Grizzlies will wear for Friday's game. Caty will also receive her very own jersey signed by the entire team, and throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The jerseys will be available for purchase through a silent auction, with proceeds benefitting Girl Scouts of Central California South.
The first-place Grizzlies continue their 2010 campaign on Friday, August 13th when they welcome the Iowa Cubs to downtown Fresno.
