Hyundai sponsors 'Bricktown Showdown'

September 18, 2006
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- For the first time in its 100+ year history, the Triple-A Baseball playoffs and championship game have an official sponsor, Hyundai Motor America. This expands Hyundai's current sponsorship as official vehicle of Triple-A Baseball, which was announced in April 2006.

The International League and Pacific Coast League champions will meet for the first time since 2000 to determine the champion of Triple-A Baseball at the Bricktown Showdown presented by Hyundai. Named after the area in Oklahoma City where the ballpark is located, the Bricktown Showdown will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. eastern. The game will be aired live on ESPN2 and also be Web-cast at www.minorleaguebaseball.com.

"Hyundai is thrilled to support the Triple-A Baseball playoffs and Bricktown Showdown Championship Game," said Michelle Cervantez, vice president of marketing for Hyundai Motor America. "Triple-A Baseball fans align perfectly with Hyundai owners -- they are fun, family-oriented and appreciate a good value. We are looking forward to an exciting end to a tremendously successful season and partnership."

As the official sponsor, the Hyundai brand will be integrated into the event via placement on the championship trophy and batting practice jerseys, signage in stadium and on field, as well as car displays throughout the stadium. Hyundai will also run commercial spots throughout the broadcast.

"The relationship Triple-A Baseball has developed this season with Hyundai has been nothing short of fantastic," said Columbus Clippers president and general manager Ken Schnacke, who also serves as Chairman of the Triple-A Baseball marketing committee. "We have found a partner that shares our values and appreciates the importance of wholesome, family entertainment at a great value. To have Hyundai involved in our playoffs and in on the ground floor of the development of the Bricktown Showdown is very exciting."
