O'Brien, Conley elected PCL All-Stars

The Pacific Coast League is known for its power, and come July 15 in Omaha, they'll provide plenty of it at this year's Triple-A All-Star Game.

D-backs No. 7 prospect and Reno outfielder Peter O'Brien headlines the group of position players elected to Pacific Coast League by fans, fellow players, media, Triple-A managers and front-office members while seventh-ranked Marlins prospect and New Orleans left-hander Adam Conley was one of four pitchers elected to represent the Triple-A circuit at the level's Midsummer Classic.

O'Brien has been impressive during his first season in the D-backs organization following his trade from the Yankees in last July's deal that sent Martin Prado the other way. The 24-year-old slugger owns a .281/.323/.523 line with 15 homers, two triples, 20 doubles and 60 RBIs in 74 games with the Aces. After trying to make it defensively as a catcher, O'Brien has played exclusively in the outfield since the end of May, splitting time between the two corner spots.

His 15 homers on the season put him a tie for second among players currently in the PCL along with fellow elected All-Star Cody Decker (El Paso) and Jared Hoying (Round Rock), who was not included ont he team due to a .230 average. Only Sacramento first baseman Adam Duvall, who was selected to the PCL squad as a backup, has more with 16. (Jon Singleton has hit 17 homers this season for Fresno but is currently in the Majors with Houston.)

Playing in his second straight season in New Orleans, Adam Conley leads the PCL pitching All-Star corps. The 25-year-old southpaw ranks second in the circuit with seven wins and is fourth with a 2.52 ERA in 15 appearances (82 innings) for the Zephyrs. That's a major improvement from a year ago when he went 3-5 with a 6.00 ERA in 12 outings in his first trip to Triple-A. 

Fellow left-hander John Lamb will get to represent Omaha in his own ballpark on July 15, as he was the other starting pitcher elected to the PCL squad, thanks to his 8-1 record, 2.71 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 73 innings for the Storm Chasers.

Besides Duvall, top Dodgers prospect Corey Seager is the other big name to be selected, rather than elected, to this year's PCL All-Star team. The 21-year-old shortstop has handled the jump to Triple-A well, hitting .290/.344/.454 with six homers and 25 RBIs in 52 games since being promoted from Double-A Tulsa on May 1.
