Barrett to Join P-Nats on Rehab in Frederick

Washington Nationals Reliever, RHP Aaron Barrett, Assigned to Potomac Nationals for Rehabilitation Stint During P-Nats Road Trip to Face the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles)
July 1, 2015

Frederick, MD--The Washington Nationals have announced the club has assigned RHP Aaron Barrett to the Potomac Nationals for rehabilitation during the P-Nats' three-game road trip to Frederick, MD.

The Red, White, and Blue will engage the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) in the series opener on Wednesday night at 7:00pm on Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

Barrett, 27, a member of the 2012 Potomac Nationals' bullpen stable, will pitch the 1st inning tonight against the Keys while on the mend from a right biceps strain sustained on June 11th after allowing a single to Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett.

Barrett was placed on the 15-day disabled list by Washington on June 12th.

In '12, Barrett had no record and an anemic 1.06 earned run average over 11 bullpen appearances in the Carolina League while inking one save in his only save opportunity.

The product of Evansville, IN selected by the Washington Nationals in the 9th round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of the University of Mississippi owns a career Major League record of (6-2) and an ERA of 3.48 with 80 games on his ML resume. Barrett has stashed 77 strikeouts and walked only 26 batters in 62.0 innings pitched.

Barrett, nicknamed "The Bear" by the Washington Nationals' faithful, made his MLB debut on March 31st, 2014 against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Barrett dealt a scoreless relief inning, struck out two men, and garnered the win.

The length of Barrett's rehab stay with Potomac has not been made official.
