First Ever Brides and Baseball Event Set to Take Over Frawley Stadium
Wilmington, DE - Love will be in the air at Frawley Stadium on Sunday, July 26, as the first-half Carolina League Northern Division champion Blue Rocks and Savoir Faire, organizers of many of the most successful bridal expos throughout Delaware for years, will present the first ever "Brides & Baseball" event. The festivities will incorporate a bridal expo into the game, which will take place throughout the concourse during the contest. Sixteen different bridal vendors in the area will be on hand to talk with brides and assist with their wedding plans. "There's no better combo for a summer bridal expo than that of Brides & Baseball!" says Kate Rokosz, owner of Savoir Faire. "With so much to shop, see and do, this is above and beyond your average bridal show." Brides can plan and shop for the wedding while their fiances take in the game. The Rocks play host to the Lynchburg Hillcats at 5:05 p.m. that evening, with gates opening at 4 p.m.
"In a way, we are planning our own wedding here at the Ballpark which covers all the bases," said Blue Rocks Director of Advertising Sales Brian Radle. "Savoir Faire has brought a wealth of expertise and insight to assist in creating this night. Usually all the memories involved with a wedding are from the day itself. With Brides & Baseball, we are aiming to create some fun memories associated with the planning process!"
The "Brides and Baseball" event begins before the first pitch is even thrown. One couple will be getting married as part of the pregame wedding the Blue Rocks and Savoir Faire will be holding. While this is going on, fans will get the opportunity to have their vows renewed as part of a collective ceremony. Those interested in participating must reach out to Radle at 302-888-5394 or [email protected] by Friday, July 24.
The bridal expo will be in full swing as the Blue Rocks battle the Hillcats on the field. Vendors in attendance for the festivities will include AAA Mid-Atlantic, Make A Memory Photo Booth, Foschi Photography, K. Scott Jewelers, Center Stage Entertainment, Fulton Paper & Party Supplies, Perfectly Posh, Morehart & Wetherby Realty Group, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Origami Owl, Doubletree by Hilton Downtown, Concord Duo, Doc Magrogan's Oyster House, Beads By Carol, Nerium, and Bridal Registry. Fans can find these groups along the stadium concourse, while hearing live performances of wedding music by Concord Duo. Bridal Chic Boutique will also be modeling different bridal gowns throughout the concourse.
The night will cap off with the Wedding Olympics, which will feature three couples competing against one another in various wedding-themed games. Each couple will begin at home plate, then race to first base. Once there, the grooms will throw their "little black books" on the grill. After making their way to second base, the couple will don proper wedding attire, with the man putting on a tuxedo and the woman slipping into a dress. After the clothes are adorned, the Olympians will run to third where they will smash a piece of cake in each others' faces, and finally race home. The couple with the fastest time around the base paths wins a wedding portrait package courtesy of Foschi Photography. The package includes four hours of photography service, one 11 X 13 coffee table photo album, and online viewing of your photos.
Beginning on Monday, July 6, couples may enter the competition through social media, where they can post a picture of themselves to the Blue Rocks Facebook page. Five finalists will be announced on Monday, July 13. The three finalist couples to receive the most collective likes and shares between July 13 and July 22 will qualify for the Wedding Olympics.
While there will be no love lost between the Blue Rocks and the Hillcats on July 26, love will be everywhere throughout Frawley Stadium.
