July 3, 2015

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Tampa Bay Rays announced Friday that Bowling Green right-handed starter Enderson Franco has been traded to the Miami Marlins for an international bonus slot valued at approximately $500,000. The 2015 international signing period began on Thursday.

Franco notched a 5-6 record with a 3.89 ERA in 13 starts with the Hot Rods in 2015, his second year in the Rays organization. In 71.2 innings this year, Franco struck out 47 batters while walking just eight - and just one over his last 26.2 innings.

The Venezuelan right-hander originally signed with the Astros organization in 2009 before being picked up by Tampa Bay in the Triple-A phase of the 2013 Rule 5 Draft. In 2014 with Hudson Valley, he posted a 7-3 record - tying for the New York-Penn League in wins - with a 3.28 ERA and was named the circuit's 14th best prospect after the season.
