Jharel Cotton Named Pitcher of the Week

Tulsa Drillers hurler Jharel Cotton was named today as the Texas League Pitcher of the Week. He joins Julio Urias, who won the award during the first week of the season, as the only two Tulsa pitchers to receive the recognition this year.

Cotton was honored for his performance during the week of June 29 through July 5. During his start on July 3 against Corpus Christi, Cotton allowed only four hits in six shutout innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven in his victory against the Hooks. 

The outing improved his record to 2-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.95 in two Double-A starts.

Alex Liddi of Northwest Arkansas was named the Texas League Hitter of the Week.
