Boise stops Aquasox, 8-4
BOISE, Idaho - Pounding out 14 hits, the Boise Hawks won their fourth game in five outings, outlasting the Everett Aquasox, 8-4, before 1,749 fans at Memorial Stadium.
The Hawks picked up their 11th win in their last 12 games against Everett in Boise, and their 21st win in their last 23 against the Frogs in the City of Trees since 2005.
The Hawks jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, as Pierre LePage lined an RBI double down the rightfield line. Everett would tie the score in the top of the second on a two-out RBI single from Fred Bello.
Boise would take the lead for good in the third, loading the bases with one out. Dustin Harrington hit a one-hopper to Terry Serrano at third, but his throw home was wide of the plate, allowing Alvaro Ramirez to score, with Jesus Morelli scoring when catcher Stephen Baron's throw from behind the plate was dropped by Edlando Seco. A third unearned run in the frame would score on an Elliot Soto fielders choice.
After Everett cut the margin to 5-4 in the fifth on a long three-run homer by Kevin Mailloux, the Hawks batted around for three in the bottom of the frame, getting RBI singles from Kyung Min Na, Ramirez, and Morelli.
Brent Ebinger got his second win of the season, tossing four innings of relief, while Seco took the loss for Everett, his first of the year.
Ramirez and Morelli each had three hits for the Hawks - as all nine position players had at least one hit. Bello went 3-for-4 in the loss for Everett.
Game 3 of the series is tomorrow at 7:15 p.m., with Juan Serrano going for the Hawks, opposite Austin Hudson.
