Fisher Added to IL All-Star Team

Gwinnett reliever Carlos Fisher replaces left-hander Manny Banuelos
July 8, 2015

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - In an announcement made today by the International League, Gwinnett Braves' right-handed reliever Carlos Fisher has been selected to participate in the 28th annual First National Bank Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan. The game will take place on Wednesday, July 15 at Werner Park, the home of the Omaha Storm Chasers, in Omaha, NE.

Fisher replaces former G-Braves' left-hander Manny Banuelos, who was selected to the team on July 2 but has since been recalled by the Atlanta Braves.

Fisher, 32, is 1-3 with a 1.35 ERA (5 ER in 33.1 IP) and three saves (3-for-4) in 24 relief appearances with Gwinnett, his second season with the club since signing with Atlanta as a minor league free agent on June 21, 2014. He has held IL opponents to a .177 batting average (20-for-113) this year.

It is the first Triple-A All-Star selection for Fisher and his first All-Star nod in any league since 2007, when he was named both a Florida State League All-Star with Sarasota and a Southern League All-Star with Chattanooga (Cincinnati Reds).

The game between the International League and the Pacific Coast League will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network beginning at 8 p.m. ET on July 15.

The Gwinnett Braves host the Norfolk Tides for a 6:35 p.m. game tonight at Coolray Field. Left-hander Greg Smith (3-3, 2.52 ERA) will take the mound for the G-Braves against right-hander Mike Wright (4-0, 3.07 ERA) of the Tides. Tony Schiavone has the play-by-play call on 97.7 FM and WSBRadio.com beginning at 6 p.m.

The game will feature Baseball Bingo, when fans can follow the on-field action for a chance to win great prizes on "Winning Wednesday." Kids ages 12 and under will also receive a voucher for a free hot dog, chips and soft drink when they enter the stadium. To purchase tickets, call the Coolray Field Ticket Office at 678-277-0340 or visit GwinnettBraves.com/tickets.
