Andreoli placed on DL, Caro promoted to Iowa
PAPILLION, Neb. - The Chicago Cubs made a series of roster moves today affecting Iowa's active roster for tonight's game at Omaha. Outfielder John Andreoli has been placed on the 7-Day disabled list with a strained oblique, and outfielder Roberto Caro has been promoted to Iowa from Rookie-level Mesa.
Andreoli, 25, is batting .272 (56-for-206) with 11 doubles, four triples and 19 stolen bases for Iowa this season. He has also walked 28 times. This is his second stint on the disabled list this season.
Caro, 21, is batting .205 (8-for-39) with a triple and five RBI in 10 games for the Mesa Cubs this season. He was signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent Dec. 2, 2011, and spent his first three seasons with Chicago's Dominican Summer League squads before transitioning stateside this season.
With these moves, Iowa's active roster is full at 25 players plus one player on the disabled list and one player on major league rehab assignment.
