Yarbrough, Brown Homer in Loss to Vegas
LAS VEGAS (July 8) - Las Vegas banged out eleven hits, including seven doubles, as the 51s cruised to a 10-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Wednesday night. After Grant Green's two-run single in the top of the fourth pulled the Bees into a 4-4 tie, Las Vegas regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Dan Rohlfing reached second base when Salt Lake right fielder Alfredo Marte over ran his fly ball for an error and scored on a double by Wilfredo Tovar, who would later score on a wild pitch. Salt Lake closed to within one run with a leadoff homer in the sixth by Gary Brown, but Marte dropped a fly ball with the bases loaded to bring in two runs for the 51s.
Bees' starter Adam Wilk (3-7) took the loss, as he went five and two-third innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on eight hits with a season high seven strikeouts and three walks. Marte led the Bees with two hits and one run batted in, while Green's single extended his road on base streak to a PCL-high 32 games dating back to last season. Alex Yarbrough and Gary Brown each hit solo homers, as Salt Lake dropped its sixth consecutive game in Las Vegas dating back to last year.
