Beeler activated by Iowa, Dent placed on DL
PAPILLION, Neb. - The Chicago Cubs made a series of roster moves today that affect Iowa's active roster for tonight's game at Omaha. Right-handed pitcher Dallas Beeler has been activated by Iowa after being optioned to Triple-A by Chicago on Wednesday. Additionally, infielder Ryan Dent has been placed on the 7-Day disabled list retroactive to July 7 with a right knee strain.
Beeler, 26, made one start for Chicago in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday. He allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.0 innings in a no-decision. The right-hander is 1-5 with a 6.33 ERA (41ER/58.1IP) and 50 strikeouts in 13 starts for Iowa this season.
Dent, 26, is hitting .268 (11-for-41) with a home run and six RBI in 18 games for Iowa this season. He was promoted to Triple-A June 8 from Double-A Tennessee where he was hitting .212 (31-for-146) with two home runs and 14 RBI in 50 games.
With these moves, Iowa's active roster is full at 25 players plus two players on the disabled list and one player on major league rehab assignment.
