Tabasco survives hitting into triple play

July 1, 2005
Tabasco survived hitting into a fifth-inning triple play in a 4-1 win over visiting Cancun in Mexican League action Thursday night.

Cancun's Juan Camilo started off the inning with a double to right off Aquiles Pinales. Camilo advanced on a single by Julian Yan. Tabasco went to the 'pen for Pablo Munoz, who promptly gave up an RBI single to Carlos Sievers.

Hector Chavarria then relieved and Hernando Arredondo lined a shot to shortstop Christian Zazueta. Cancun promptly caught both Yan and Sievers in rundowns to end the threat.

Camilo and Arredondo homered and Sievers went 3-for-4 in the winning effort.

Joel Vargas (7-5) recorded the win, scattering one run on six hits over eight innings. Eddie Oropesa picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth.
