Mike Hauschild turns in seven quality innings, while Tyler White and Domingo Santana club homers
July 12, 2015

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The first half of the Bear Flag Rebellion of 2015 has the first-place Fresno Grizzlies with a 53-38 record and a nine-game lead in the Pacific Northern Division. They took a win into the All-Star Break on Sunday afternoon by defeating the Sacramento River Cats (39-52) by a score of 5-3, giving them four wins in five days at Raley Field on way to the series victory. The nine-game lead stands as the largest by any Triple-A Baseball division leader.

Fresno starter Mike Hauschild continued his road dominance, allowing only two runs over seven quality innings and striking out four. In four road outings with the Grizzlies, he is 3-0 with a 1.11 ERA (3 ER/24.1 IP) and a .174 (15-86) opponents' average. He began the game by retiring the first eight batters faced until Guillermo Quiroz lined a two-out single to center in the third and later scored in the inning on a single from Kelby Tomlinson. Hauschild would surrender another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, but only allowed one hit throughout the rest of his outing.

Tyler White smacked a first inning two-run homer (2) to get the Fresno offense going. The bomb off righty Tommy Hanson gave White his 11th and 12th RBI in his brief 11-game Triple-A career. The corner infielder is hitting .432 (19-44) with five doubles, two homers and 12 RBI since being promoted to Fresno back on July 2nd.

Domingo Santana followed in the home run theme and drilled his 12th of the season on a 1-1 pitch from Hanson to lead off the fourth. The homer extended Santana's minor league leading on-base streak to 40 games and allowed for the Grizzlies lead to move to 3-1. The outfielder added an RBI single an inning later, helping give him a 2-4 day that included a walk.

Nolan Fontana extended his hitting streak to a season-high tying six games with an RBI single in the top of the ninth to give Fresno their fifth and final run of the afternoon.

Jason Stoffel (2.0 IP) came on in relief to pick up his first save of the season. The righty allowed a one-out single to Ryan Lollis in the eighth when Fresno led 4-2, but struck out Adam Duvall and Jarrett Parker to end the frame. In the ninth, he allowed an RBI single to Guillermo Quiroz, but cut off the River Cats attempted rally by striking out Xavier Avery to end the game.

Fresno recorded six total wins in their two series at Sacramento this season, which establishes a new franchise record. The two clubs will meet five more times this season in a series at Chukchansi Park from August 5th through the 9th

The Grizzlies will begin the second half of the season at home on Thursday, July 16th with a four-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas at Chukchansi Park. Fresno righty Asher Wojciechowski (5-1, 4.33) is expected to start against El Paso lefty Jason Lane (7-5, 4.83).
