FXFL Debuts in the Mahoning Valley

The Youngstown-Warren area is about to become home to a franchise of a new and fascinating professional football league. The Mahoning Valley Brawlers will open their season at Eastwood Field on October 3, as part of the Fall Experimental Football League, better known as the FXFL. The team will be operated by HWS Baseball, the current owner of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball team. Vice President Jordan Taylor said "We are thrilled to be partnering with the FXFL this season. The Mahoning Valley is rich in football tradition and passion and we look forward to bringing the area a high level professional football team."

At a news conference today, Taylor introduced FXFL Commissioner Brian Woods. "We are pleased to announce the addition of Mahoning Valley as part of our 2015 membership and look forward to our partnership with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers organization." Woods said. "This gives us an exciting new market with an attractive fan base."  

The Eastwood Mall Complex will be the presenting sponsor of the Brawlers. Tickets for Brawlers games will be available at the Mr. Rooter Box Office at Eastwood Field. A pre-season camp for the Brawlers will open on September 22. View the season schedule here

ABOUT THE FXFL

The FXFL is a professional football league, which was founded in May 2014 by Commissioner and CEO, Brian Woods. Woods' vision was to create a developmental platform for professional football talent. The FXFL business model incorporates partnerships with Minor League Baseball organizations and the utilization of smaller venues to better engage the fan base. Headquartered in New York, the FXFL counts ESPN3 and over twenty regional sports networks among its broadcast partners. All games are played on weeknights to avoid scheduling conflicts with the NFL and collegiate football. In 2014, over 25% of FXFL players received a call-back to an NFL member club.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are the Short Season Single-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Founded in 1999, the team's parent company is HWS Baseball.
