Heisey Homers Dodgers to 3-2 Win
Oklahoma City - Chris Heisey's two-run home run in the sixth inning provided the eventual winning runs in the Oklahoma City Dodgers' 3-2 win Friday against the Round Rock Express in front of a sellout crowd of 11,066 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
All three of the league-leading Dodgers' runs came in the sixth inning and Oklahoma City's pitching staff held the Express to three hits as they evened the series with the Express, 1-1.
Round Rock (53-38) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when second baseman Hanser Alberto hit a solo home run to lead off for the Express.
Oklahoma City (57-33) was held without a hit until shortstop Corey Seager singled in the fourth inning and got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning.
Second baseman Darwin Barney drew a walk to lead off the inning and designated hitter Carl Crawford hit a one-out single. With Seager batting, Barney advanced to third and Crawford to second base on a balk by Round Rock pitcher Stolmy Pimentel. Seager then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Barney and tie the game. Heisey followed with his team-leading 13th home run of the season, a two-run shot onto the Budweiser Deck in left field to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.
Round Rock third baseman Joey Gallo led off the ninth and hit a solo homer to left field to cut Oklahoma City's lead to 3-2.
Round Rock's Ed Lucas drew a walk before Juan Gonzalez entered the game to pitch for Oklahoma City. Gonzalez struck out Brett Nicholas and got Michael Choice to ground into a double play to end the game.
Gonzalez earned his fourth save of the season for Oklahoma City, which ended a four-game home losing skid.
In his team debut, starting pitcher Trevor Cahill tossed 4.2 innings and held the Express to one run and two hits. Ian Thomas (4-1) followed with 2.1 scoreless and hitless frames to earn the win.
Reliever Pimentel (2-3) was charged with the loss for Round Rock.
The OKC Dodgers continue their series against Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Xpogo Stunt Team, presented by Heartland Flyer, will be on hand to perform their high-flying pogo stick riding routines throughout the evening.
