Power Yankees offense flies past Burlington, 10-3
(Pulaski, VA) -Thursday night the Yankees transformed an early comeback into a late routing of the Burlington Royals. The Yankees explosive offense hung 10 runs on the board in the first four innings, as Pulaski cruised to a 10-3 victory.
Tonight's battle between Pulaski (14-9) and Burlington (12-11) mirrored that of Wednesday's series opener.
The Royals quickly gained a two-run lead in the first with a single by Jose Martinez, who advanced a base on a ground out by Austin Bailey, and made it home on a homerun by Anderson Miller
Burlington's lead would not hold for long. In the home half of the first Burlington's Ashe Russell walked Hoy Jun Park, who stole second with Austin Afenir batting. Russell walked Nathan Mikolas and Matthew Duran. All three runners are brought home on a grand slam by second baseman Gosuke Katoh bringing Pulaski to a 4-2 lead.
Kane Sweeney crushed leadoff homerun over the right field wall in the second furthering Pulaski's lead 5-2. Carlos Vidal bounces one off the right field wall and slides into second for a double. Vidal advances to third on a ground out by Park, and scores on a single by Afenir 5-3.
Adonis Rosa recorded his fourth win of the season. He pitched five innings, allowed three runs on seven hits, and struck out one.
In the fourth, Pulaski furthers their lead to 10-3. Burlington reliever Christian Flecha walked Coleman, who advanced on a single by Vidal, and scored on an Afenir single to right-center field. Mikolas' double scored Vidal and advanced Afenir, who scored on a Duran single.
The Pulaski bullpen held the Royals off for the next five innings, holding them to no runs on two hits and stranding three on base.
The Yankees will attempt to take the final game of the series on Friday at 7 p.m. at Historic Calfee Park.
