Here's a roundup of Tuesday's Hawaii Winter League games:

Honolulu Sharks 9, North Shore Honu 8
Launch Gameday
Van Pope's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Honolulu Sharks to a 9-8 win over the North Shore Honu on Tuesday evening at Les Murakami Stadium.

Pope's fly ball to center field followed consecutive singles by Brian Bixler (Pittsburgh Pirates), Eric Campbell (Atlanta Braves) and Ryan Finan (Baltimore Orioles) to start the inning. Pope, a Braves prospect who collected 74 RBIs for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach in 2006, also contributed a two-run single in the first.

Every player in Honolulu's starting lineup hit safely. Campbell and Finan smacked RBI doubles as part of a four-run third, while Hisashi Kawata blasted a two-run homer in the eighth to give the Sharks (4-3) an 8-5 lead.

The Honu (5-2) responded with three runs in the ninth to tie the game at 8-8. Takehiro Donoue laced a two-run single, and Los Angeles Dodgers farmhand Xavier Paul contributed an RBI groundout. Keiyo Aomatsu smashed a three-run dinger in the third.

Honolulu reliever David Haehnel (2-0) recorded two outs in the ninth and earned the win. The Baltimore Orioles prospect entered with runners on first and third and one out and allowed Paul's RBI groundout before striking out Rodney Choy Foo (Cleveland Indians) to end the threat.

Justin Vaclavik (Pirates) was charged with all three of the Honu's ninth-inning runs, while starter Takuma Kadowaki yielded four runs on three hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings.

New York Mets farmhand Blake Eager (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 1 1/3 innings. Starter Robert Parnell (Mets) surrendered six runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 frames, while Brewers prospect Robert Hinton struck out four over two perfect innings.

West Oahu Canefires 7, Waikiki Beach Boys 4
Launch Gameday
John Otness' three-run double highlighted a five-run third inning as the West Oahu Canefires defeated the visiting Waikiki Beach Boys, 7-4, on Tuesday.

Otness' bases-loaded two-bagger gave the Canefires (3-4) a lead they would not relinquish. The 25-year-old Boston Red Sox prospect had not knocked in a run over his first four games of the season.

Rangers prospect Emerson Frostad launched a second-inning solo homer for West Oahu, while Chris Rahl (Arizona Diamondbacks), Mike Stodolka (Kansas City Royals) and Yasushi Iihara each contributed an RBI.

New York Yankees right-hander Mark Melancon (1-0) earned the win, despite yielding two unearned runs on three hits over two innings of relief. Kyler Newby (Diamondbacks) hurled a scoreless ninth for his first save.

Colorado Rockies farmhand Dexter Fowler went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and is now batting .522 over seven games with the Beach Boys (2-5). The 20-year-old Georgian laced a two-run triple in the third and an RBI single in the fifth.

Rockies prospect Ching Lung Lo (0-2) started for the Beach Boys and took the loss. The Taiwanese right-hander yielded six runs on five hits and two walks over three innings. Adam Bright (Rockies) and Marco Estrada (Washington Nationals) each tossed two shutout innings out of the bullpen.
