Andriese, Brett Lead Bulls Past Knights, 4-0

Durham Avoids Sweep; Road Trip Moves To Norfolk
July 23, 2015

Charlotte, NC --- Matt Andriese pitched two-hit ball over seven innings to lead Durham past Charlotte 4-0 on Thursday night at BB&T BallPark.

Andriese (W, 2-1) fanned seven, walked none and sent the Bulls (50-48) packing from Charlotte (57-43) avoiding a four-game sweep, and to within 6 1/2 of the new first place squad in the South, the Norfolk Tides.

With the game scoreless in the sixth, Charlotte starter Hector Noesi (L, 0-1) walked Hak-Ju Lee and Luke Maile to start the frame. After a sac bunt, Ryan Brett singled home two runs to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead.

In the ninth, following two walks by reliever Maikel Cleto, Maile and Boog Powell singled home runs for a 4-0 cushion.

Andrew Bellatti (S, 1) fanned five over his two innings in notching his first save of the season.

The Bulls road trip moves to Harbor Park on Friday night with a pair of games against the Tides, who polished off a four-game sweep of Pawtucket earlier Thursday. The opener will resume a rain-suspended game from July 3rd with the game scoreless in the fifth inning. The nightcap will feature the Triple-A debut of lefty Blake Snell.
