Salem Red Sox Announce Ticket for Troops Initiative
SALEM, Va. - In conjunction with a season-long effort of supporting local members of the armed forces, the Salem Red Sox have partnered with Virginia Military Family Services to help send military men and women and their families to the Red Sox Military Appreciation Night game on Saturday, August 29.
The Tickets for Troops Initiative allows all fans the opportunity to make a $5 donation to help send a member of the armed forces and his/her family to the August 29 contest against the Potomac Nationals. Donations can be made in person at the box office or the front office, as well as via phone at 540-389-3333. No additional purchase is required.
This initiative continues the Red Sox string of military-centric promtions in the 2015 season. Every Friday this season has been dubbed a Freedom Friday presented by Freedom First Credit Union. The Red Sox have worn and will continue to wear special digital camouflage uniforms in addition to shoot off postgame fireworks. The camouflage uniforms will be worn and auctioned off after the game on Military Appreciation Night with proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project.
Also, a special trading card set of local military members is being created to be given away on Military Appreciation Night. Fans can submit a family member or friend from the Roanoke area that has served or is currently serving in any branch of the United States armed forces. Submissions need to include a photo and background information of the military member. Any active, retired or deceased member of the military is eligible for submission and subsequent selection. Fans can submit a military member can do so by e-mailing [email protected].
