Lugo Named League Pitcher of the Week
BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton Mets starter Seth Lugo was recognized on Monday as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week. In two starts during the week, Lugo logged 14 innings in two wins, allowed one total run and compiled a pair of eight-strikeout performances.
Lugo, 25, started his terrific week with seven strong innings against the New Britain Rock Cats on July 20. A solo home run allowed in the first inning proved to be the only blemish as Lugo matched a Double-A career high with eight strikeouts. He capped his strong performance by fanning the final three batters he faced. Lugo followed up with another stellar performance on Sunday against the Trenton Thunder, going seven scoreless innings while collecting eight more strikeouts.
In his last four starts, Lugo has gone 4-0, compiled a 0.36 ERA and racked up 26 strikeouts over 25.0 innings.
The B-Mets (55-45) return home to start a three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats on Monday night at 6:35 PM. RHP Gabriel Ynoa makes the start against LHP Ryan Carpenter.
