2nd Rounder, White, Assigned to Beloit
BELOIT, Wisc. - The Oakland A's have announced that they are assigning their 2015 2nd round draft pick, Mikey White, to the Beloit Snappers.
White was originally assigned to the Vermont Lake Monsters after being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Alabama. In 29 games for the Lake Monsters, White was batting .315 with 10 doubles, two homers, and 16 RBI.
Gabriel Santana has also been assigned to Beloit from Vermont. The Venezuela native was batting .232 with two homers in Vermont.
This means that two roster spots had to open up on the Snappers. A pair of Midwest League All-Stars, Trent Gilbert and Yairo Munoz, have both been promoted to the High-A Stockton Ports.
Munoz is the number eight prospect in the Oakland A's system according to MLB Pipeline and leaves the Snappers batting .236 with 14 doubles, three triples, and nine homers while bringing in 48 runs.
Gilbert had success before being drafted in the 15th round by Oakland in 2014, as he was a College World Series winner at the University of Arizona in 2012. The promotion to Stockton will certainly bring the Torrance, California native closer to home. Before moving up to Stockton, Gilbert was batting .267 with 15 doubles, two triples, five homers, and 44 RBI with the Snappers.
The Beloit Snappers are 40-60 on the season and 14-16 in the second half.
