Fort Wayne, Ind.-The Fort Wayne TinCaps scored three runs with two outs in the sixth inning to overcome a 5-3 deficit and defeat the Dayton Dragons 6-5 on Tuesday night. The loss dropped the Dragons to 1-3 on their current road trip. They have lost nine of their last 10 road games while simultaneously winning 10 of their last 11 home games.

Dragons reliever Ty Sterner (1-1) retired the first two batters in the sixth inning before allowing a double to Ruddy Giron, his fourth hit of the night. Sterner then walked the next two batters to load the bases. Luis Tejada then hit a high fly ball to deep center field. Dragons center fielder Narciso Crook started back for the ball, turned to face the infield, back-peddled again and reached up, but the ball cleared his glove and landed on the warning track as all three runners scored to give Fort Wayne a 6-5 lead.

The Dragons had only one base runner over the final three innings when Garrett Boulware reached on a lead-off single in the eighth, but pinch runner Jonathan Reynoso was stranded at first.

Dragons starting pitcher Wyatt Strahan battled through four innings, allowing three runs but standing eight base runners and leaving the game with the lead. He allowed eight hits with two walks with five strikeouts. Five of the eight runners left on base against Strahan were stranded in scoring position. Sterner was charged with three runs in one and two-thirds innings for the loss.

The Dragons took advantage of three walks and two Fort Wayne errors in the first inning to score two runs and take an early 2-0 lead, but Fort Wayne answered with three runs in the bottom of the first. In the Dayton fourth, the Dragons again took advantage of two Fort Wayne errors, both on the same play allowing two runs to score. The Dragons added another run in the inning on back-to-back doubles by Argenis Aldazoro and Ty Washington to make it 5-3.

The Dragons finished with nine hits. Aldazoro had a double and two singles to lead the attack. Boulware had two singles.

The loss dropped the Dragons into a tie with South Bend for fifth place, two and one-half games behind first place West Michigan. There are still 38 games to play.

The Dragons (16-16 in the second half; 55-47 overall) battle the TinCaps (17-15, 49-51) in the second game of the series on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Tejay Antone (5-7, 2.95) will start for the Dragons against Fort Wayne's Chris Huffman (4-6, 3.77).
