M-Braves Announce 2016 Schedule

Double-A Braves open 2016 season April 7, host SL All-Star Game June 21

PEARL, MS -- The 2016 season marks the Mississippi Braves 12th season at Trustmark Park. The Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves begins the season Thursday, April 7 with a five-game homestand against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The M-Braves also host the 2016 Southern League All-Star Game presented by Trustmark Tuesday, June 21.

 

Since making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005, Mississippi fans have seen more than 100 former M-Braves make their Major League debuts and 16 of those were called up directly from Double-A Mississippi. The M-Braves have made it to the playoffs three times and won the 2008 Southern League Championship. Mississippi also had the best overall record in the Southern League in 2014.

 

The 2016 season features 70 games at Trustmark Park and 70 games on the road during the 140-game regular season. After the opening five-game homestand, the M-Braves travel to Montgomery for five games. The Braves return to Trustmark Park for a 10-game homestand against Chattanooga and Biloxi April 17-26.

                                                                                          

Mississippi takes a day off to travel to Jacksonville for five games and then heads to Tennessee for five against the Smokies in early May. The BayBears stop in Pearl May 9-13 before the M-Braves head out for 10 more games at Pensacola and Mobile. The Braves return home to counter the Suns May 25-29, take Memorial Day off and then head to Biloxi.

 

In June, Mississippi hosts the Smokies and the Jackson Generals in a 10-game homestand June 5-14. The Braves head to Birmingham for five days to complete the first half of the season before the three-day all-star break.

 

The 2016 Southern League All-Star break is slated for June 20-22. The Mississippi Braves will host all events culminating with the 2016 Southern League All-Star Game presented by Trustmark on Tuesday, June 21. Details surrounding all festivities will be announced at a later date.

 

The second half of the season begins at Trustmark Park with a five-game series against the Jacksonville Suns. The M-Braves take a day off before starting a five-game set Jackson, TN. Mississippi returns home on July 4 for its annual Independence Day Celebration and then heads to Mobile July 9-13. The Double-A Braves take on the Generals against before heading back to Kodak, TN, to counter the Smokies.

 

July's schedule concludes with a five-game series against the Barons in Pearl. The Braves then travel to Pensacola for five days and return to Mississippi for five against the BayBears August 5-9. The M-Braves take a day off to travel to Jacksonville. Trustmark Park welcomes the Blue Wahoos in mid-August before the Braves conclude the road schedule with a 10-day trip through Biloxi and Chattanooga.

 

The season concludes with a five-game homestand against the Shuckers September 1-5.
