2016 Blue Wahoos Schedule Released
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The fun and excitement of Blue Wahoos baseball returns for a fifth season as the Southern League announces the schedule for the 2016 season. Baseball will return to Pensacola on April 12 as the Blue Wahoos welcome the Jacksonville Suns to Bayfront Stadium.
Pensacola opens the 2016 season on the road against the Mississippi Braves on April 7 and will close out the season on the road against the Birmingham Barons on September 6.
The Blue Wahoos will host 12 nights of fireworks on Saturday and continue its Out-of-School fireworks on Wednesday nights! The team will celebrate Independence Day on July 3 against Chattanooga. Although the team plays in Mobile on the 4th of July, the stadium will be open for another Family Day where fans can enjoy an evening at the ballpark leading up to the Sertoma Club's annual fireworks show over Pensacola Bay.
The team will be home for Mother's Day on May 8 (Biloxi Shuckers) and Father's Day on June 19 (Mobile BayBears).
Pensacola will again play host to Jacksonville for the Golden Skillet and Mobile for the Bay-to-Bay contest, 10 games each. Biloxi will return to Pensacola for 15 games including 10 in the month of July.
The Blue Wahoos have 10 home games in April, 15 in May, 12 in June, 14 in July and 19 in August. The 140-game schedule will be completed in 152 days. The 2016 season features a pair of 10-game homestands. The 10-gamers are June 10-19 against Montgomery and Mobile and August 22-31 against Mobile and Jacksonville. The team has one 10-game road trip (June 1-9 at Mobile and Jackson).
The first half of the season ends June 19 before the three-day Southern League All-Star Break (June 20-22). The All-Star game is on Tuesday, June 21 at the home of the Mississippi Braves.
