Jackson Releases its 2016 Schedule

Team set to open at The Ballpark at Jackson for first time since 2012

Jackson, Tenn. - The Southern League announced its schedule for 2016, and the Jackson Generals are set to open and close the 140-game slate at The Ballpark at Jackson. After three seasons of starting on the road, Jackson is set to open a campaign at home for the first time since 2012. Information on promotions and tickets will be released at a later date.

The 2016 schedule starts and finishes two days earlier than this year, with Jackson opening Thursday, April 7 with a five-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits. The team's last series of the year is at home as well, as Jackson hosts in-state rival Tennessee from September 1 through Monday, September 5.

The Generals will play 70 games at The Ballpark at Jackson and 70 more away from home. The team opens with 20 games in 20 days before the first off day of the season Wednesday, April 27. The team kicks off a 10-game homestand the next day. The Generals also play 10-straight home games in August.

Jackson has a total of 11 Saturday home dates, and the Generals will face off against Mississippi on Sunday, July 3 in a big night as well. The Braves are the hosts of the 2016 All-Star Game, which will take place at Trustmark Park Tuesday, June 21. The All-Star Break will be from June 20 to the 22.

All nine Southern League teams pay at least one visit to Jackson, and fans will be able to see the team's four divisional opponents-Birmingham, Chattanooga, Montgomery, and Tennessee-two times.
