Team to host Negro League Night Friday, September 3
August 27, 2010
Niles, Ohio - Join the Scrappers in paying tribute to baseball pioneers during Negro League Night on Friday, September 3 at Eastwood Field. The team opens the final homestand of the 2010 season against the Jamestown Jammers by honoring Negro League star Ted Toles, Jr., a native of Warren. During his career, Toles played for the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the Cleveland Buckeyes amongst others.

Toles is signing autographs in the main concourse during the game. Photographs are available for purchase for $3 each and other items can be signed by Toles for a suggested donation of $3 per item. Funds raised by the autograph session are used to assist the Negro League star with his medical expenses.

The Scrappers are wearing Negro League uniforms during the game as an homage to the trailblazing players of the era. The autographed, game-worn Cleveland Buckeyes hats are available for purchase for $20 each during the game. Additionally, Negro League jerseys are available for purchase for $30 each. Fans can purchase a hat and jersey for $40.

The Niles Post Office is displaying the United States Postal Service's new Negro League Stamps in the main concourse throughout the evening's game.
