Cody Ege packaged in trade with Miami Marlins

FRISCO, TEXAS (JULY 31, 2015) - The Texas Rangers announced on Friday the acquisition of Miami Marlins pitcher Sam Dyson. In return, the Rangers sent current Frisco RoughRiders pitcher Cody Ege and catcher Tomas Telis. No immediate corresponding moves were made.

Ege, 23, appeared in 23 games with Frisco after a promotion from Advanced-A High Desert on May 7. The left-hander allowed three earned runs over 31 2/3 innings pitched with the RoughRiders. The Texas Rangers named Ege the Reliever of the Month for April 2015 and August/September of 2014. Ege, a 2013 draft pick, was 6-2 with a 1.00 ERA in 35 relief appearances this season.

Telis, 24, is expected to join the Marlins' big league club. He appeared in 161 games across two different seasons with Frisco, batting .281 with six home runs and 76 RBI. Telis signed as an amateur free agent in 2007, and played in six games with the Rangers this season. Over eight professional seasons, Telis owns a 30% caught stealing rate, a .291 batting average, hit 36 homers and collected 331 RBI. He is a four-time Mid-Season All-Star, including twice with Frisco in 2013 & 2014.

Dyson has made 44 relief appearances this year with the Marlins. He is 3-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 44 innings.
