Riddle Lifts Suns to 7-4 Win Over Mobile
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (20-13, 54-47) fell to the Jacksonville Suns (12-22, 41-62) for the second straight night, dropping Friday's contest 4-7 at Hank Aaron Stadium. The win for Jacksonville evens the series at 2-2 while the loss by Mobile results in the BayBears dropping a game in their division lead. Mobile maintains a 1.5 game lead in the Southern League South Division Standings.
Jacksonville hit Mobile hard in the top of the third inning. Suns starting RHP Scott Lyman reached base with a lead-off double then scored the first run of the game with a RBI base hit from J.T. Riddle. David Adams followed by knocking in two runs with a two run triple to give the Suns a 3-0 advantage.
The score remained the same until the sixth inning. The BayBears posted three runs in the frame. Sean Jamieson drew a lead-off walk and then Mobile struck for four straight hits. Zach Borenstein drove in both Jamieson and Socrates Brito with a two-run double. A batter later, Garrett Weber drove in the tying run with a RBI base hit to even the score at 3-3.
The tie didn't last long as the Suns reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Riddle lifted the Suns with a two-run home run, making the score 5-3 Jacksonville. After the BayBears pulled within a run when Tom Belza hit a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh inning, Riddle struck again in the top of the ninth inning with his second two-run homer of the contest. The 7-4 lead held for the final score as Jacksonville evened the series at 2-2.
