Chihuahuas Announce Star Wars Night!

August 3, 2015

EL PASO, Texas - August 4, 2015 - In anticipation of the latest installment of one of the greatest film sagas in history - Star Wars, The Force Awakens - the Chihuahuas announce the unveiling of Star Wars Night to take place Wednesday, August 12th as they battle the Las Vegas 51s (New York Mets) in an all-out galactic war!

"We are proud to provide a night of fun for fans of all ages, and to benefit the El Paso Exploreum," said Brad Taylor, general manager of the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The team will wear specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the El Paso Exploreum. The jerseys feature the face of one of the most iconic characters from the Star Wars franchise - Yoda - a Jedi Master with ears similar to a Chihuahua.

"We are honored that the Chihuahuas have selected the El Paso Exploreum as the jersey auction beneficiary," said Laurie Paternoster, co-founder. "We are committed to providing our community with a quality children's museum. This generous donation will allow us to continue this mission. "

The evening will also include a Star Wars themed Fireworks Spectacular choreographed to John William's franchise score.

The 501st Legion and Mandalorian Mercenaries (Boba Fett inspired costumes) will provide Star Wars characters for the evening, including Darth Vader.

The El Paso Exploreum is an interactive children's museum that offers more than 60 hands-on exhibits for ages 12 and younger. Exhibits also include the history of El Paso, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) room, Inspiration Station, Airport Adventure and Shuttle to the Stars to name a few.

The Chihuahuas are just 4.5 games back of Las Vegas in the Pacific Coast League Pacific of the Southern Division also known as the Southern Quadrant of the Pacific Galactic League. Do not underestimate the Chihuahuas chances, however, as the force is strong with them. It is still difficult to see who will end up in first, "always in motion is the future."
