R-Phils RHP Mike Cisco, who tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout on August 26 in Reading, was named as the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 29, as announced by the Eastern League earlier today.

Originally selected in the 36th round of the 2008 draft, Cisco, 23, was impressive at FirstEnergy Stadium in Thursday's opening game against Binghamton. The South Carolina native allowed just one hit and struck-out a career-high 10 Mets hitters, en-route to a complete-game 5-0 shutout victory. After allowing a double and a walk in the first inning, Cisco retired 25-straight batters to end the game.

Cisco, the grandson of former Phillies pitching coach Galen Cisco, notched the first complete game of his career, and has enjoyed his best month of the season in August. This month, the 23-year-old has posted a 2-2 record with a 3.69 ERA in five starts.

For the season, the University of South Carolina product is 4-9 with a 4.54 ERA over 14 starts for the R-Phils. He was promoted to Lehigh Valley (AAA) on July 21, and started for the IronPigs in Indianapolis against the Indians. He earned a no-decision after allowing five runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings pitched -- and was sent back to Reading the next day.

In 2008, Cisco made his professional debut with Williamsport (A) and posted a 1-0 mark with a 1.86 ERA in nine games (one start). The Wando High School (South Carolina) product was promoted to Lakewood (A) that year, and continued to shine. He finished the year with the BlueClaws and posted a 2-1 record with a 0.51 ERA in eight games (six starts).

Last season, while with Clearwater, he went 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA in 15 games (14 starts). He was named Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week (7/6-12), and was promoted to Reading on August 1. In seven starts with the R-Phils last year, Cisco posted a 2-4 record with a 4.58 ERA.

Four other Reading Phillies' players have been honored with the Eastern League's weekly award this season -- RHP Phillippe Aumont (week ending April 25), center fielder Quintin Berry (week ending June 13), Matt Rizzotti (week ending June 27), Tagg Bozied (week ending August 22).

The R-Phils final homestand of 2010 continues tonight with Gluttony Night. Single-game tickets for the 2010 season, presented by Pepsi, are on-sale and can be purchased in-person at FirstEnergy Stadium, by calling (610) 375-8469 or by visiting www.readingphillies.com.
