Honolulu Sharks 4, West Oahu CaneFires 2

Nyjer Morgan's two-run triple in the eighth inning snapped a tie ballgame as the Honolulu Sharks defeated the visiting West Oahu CaneFires, 4-2, on Sunday.
Morgan, a Pittsburgh Pirates farmhand, ripped a two-out three-bagger to right field that plated Brian Bixler (Pirates) and Atsushi Ugumori. Ken Kato contributed an RBI single in the third, while Hisashi Kawata laced a run-scoring double in the fourth for the Sharks (9-12).
Morgan's clutch triple made a winner of Baltimore Orioles farmhand Bruce Gallaway (1-0), who hurled a scoreless eighth inning. David Haehnel (Orioles) shut down the CaneFires in the ninth to pick up his third save, while starter Hideki Asai surrendered a run on three hits over five innings.
John Whittleman (Texas Rangers) launched a solo home run in the second inning to put West Oahu (9-10) on the board. Makoto Moriyama singled in the sixth inning and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Boston Red Sox prospect John Otness.
San Diego Padres farmhand Neil Jamison (0-1) took the loss after pitching the eighth. Starter Jeff Marquez (New York Yankees) allowed two runs on five hits and five walks over 3 2/3 innings.
North Shore Honu 5, Waikiki BeachBoys 3

Darren Ford's two-run double highlighted a five-run third inning as the North Shore Honu defeated the visiting Waikiki BeachBoys, 5-3.
Ford, a Milwaukee Brewers prospect who stole 69 bases for the Class A West Virginia Power this past season, laced a two-bagger to right field that scored Mets farmhands Dustin Martin and Drew Butera. Mike Carp (Mets) capped the frame's scoring with a two-run single.
Chicago Cubs prospect Scott Koerber (3-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits over five innings. Joe Thatcher (Brewers) followed with two scoreless frames, while Zachary Hammes (Los Angeles Dodgers) tossed a perfect ninth to nab his third save for North Shore (11-8).
The BeachBoys (10-9) got on the board in the third as Grant Psomas (Florida Marlins) singled and Tomoaki Egawa doubled to put runners on second and third with one out. Psomas scored on a wild pitch, and Egawa came home on an RBI groundout by Eric Young Jr. (Colorado Rockies). San Francisco prospect Mark Minicozzi contributed a run-scoring single in the eighth.
Florida Marlins farmhand Rick Vanden Hurk (1-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits over five innings. The Netherlands native struck out six to raise his league-leading total to 36. Adam Bright (Rockies), Brian Anderson (Giants) and Hirotaka Egusa each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
