Bour, Cerda, Grife, McNutt Win Awards
Bour was named the 2010 Peoria Chiefs MVP after leading the Chiefs in hits, RBI, doubles, home runs, total bases and slugging percentage with less than a week to play. As the team MVP he joins former Chiefs Mark Grace, Albert Pujols, Pablo Ozuna, Alex Arias, Jerome Walton, Daric Barton and Eric Patterson among others.
Cerda won the prestigious Ryne Sandberg Award named after the Chiefs 2007-08 Manager and created to honor his legendary 2005 Hall of Fame speech. The award is presented annually to the Chiefs player "who best exemplifies professionalism, dedication, work ethic, community service and the ability to play the game the right way." The first to winners in 2008 & 2009 were Nate Samson and David Macias.
McNutt left the Chiefs on June 27 but was still named 2010 Pitcher of the Year. He made 13 starts and was 6-0 with a 1.51 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings. Peoria was 12-1 in his 13 starts and McNutt led the team in quality starts at the time of his promotion. After starting the All-Star game in Fort Wayne, McNutt was promoted to Daytona but he is now with Double-A Tennessee.
Grife was given the 2010 Community Service Award with the most player appearances throughout the season. He has represented the Chiefs at schools reading to kids, at autograph shows, teaching kids to play baseball at clinics, talking to community groups and numerous other events.
