Blue Rocks Welcome Cowboy Monkey Rodeo for Final Time During Upcoming Home Stand
WILMINGTON, Del. - After more than a week away from Frawley Stadium, the Blue Rocks will return to the riverfront to open up a three-game home stand against the Carolina Mudcats. The series kicks off on Tuesday, August 11, and runs through Thursday, August 13. Although the home stand only lasts three days, the Rocks are packing the series with as much fun and excitement as possible, including the final appearance by the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo in Wilmington during the 2015 season.
The three-game set with the Mudcats begins on Tuesday with a 6:35 p.m. contest. During the game, the Blue Rocks will also be hosting their Two-riffic Tuesday promotion. On a night where deuces are wild, fans can get themselves two tickets to the game, as well as two hot dogs and two sodas, all for just $22. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. that evening.
Wednesday marks game two of the series, and will also see a 6:35 p.m. first pitch. During the middle contest of the three-game set, fans in attendance will be treated to Polish Heritage Night at Frawley Stadium. The evening will be filled with Polish-themed music and games, and will also feature Kielbasa and Pierogi specials at the Grill Cart. Wednesday will also mark another Winning Wednesday, presented by Delaware Lottery. Throughout each Wednesday home game in 2015, the Blue Rocks will give away numerous prizes to lucky fans at the ballpark, with each Winning Wednesday featuring different items up for grabs. In addition, if the Blue Rocks win on Wednesday, fans can present their ticket stubs from that contest at the ticket window for a free General Admission ticket to the next Wednesday home game. Gates for this contest will open at 5:30 p.m.
The series wraps up on Thursday with another 6:35 p.m. tilt between the Rocks and the Mudcats, as the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo will perform for the third and final time on the riverfront in 2015. Throughout the game, Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard will entertain the spectators as his cowboy monkeys ride dogs as though they were horses through the outfield. Then, after the final out, the cowboy monkeys will take the field to help Lepard and the rest of Team Ghost Riders herd rams that have gotten loose on the field. If seeing the amazing cowboy monkeys wasn't enough, after the rams are herded the Frawley-faithful will be treated to a fireworks show. Both events are sponsored by the Delaware Lottery, and gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday's festivities don't stop with the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo or the postgame fireworks show. As is the case with every Thursday home contest, the Blue Rocks will hold their Beer :30 Thursday promotion, presented by Dogfish Head. Between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. during every Beer :30 Thursday, fans can enjoy craft beers at amazing prices, including Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA drafts for $3, 90 Minute IPA bottles for $3, and Domestics and Wines for $2 each. The Blue Rocks also feature a different Dogfish Head seasonal or specialty ale on specific Thursdays throughout the 2015 campaign, with the August 13 tilt showcasing the Namaste Ale.
The Blue Rocks have already punched their ticket to the playoffs with their first-half Northern Division title, but that doesn't mean the fun stops at Frawley Stadium this summer.
