August 14, 2015

Hickory, NC - The Texas Rangers have added 2015 first round draft pick Dillon Tate to the Hickory Crawdads roster, with the right-handed pitcher joining the 'Dads from the short-season Spokane Indians. Tate replaces RHP Nick Gardewine, who was placed on the 7-day DL.

Tate, 21, joins the Crawdads after making two starts in Spokane, where he threw two scoreless innings with three walks and three strikeouts. The 4th overall selection in the 2015 Draft out of UC Santa Barbara, Tate was a 2015 Louisville Slugger All-American and Golden Spikes Award semifinalist this past season with the Gauchos while going 8-5 with a 2.26 ERA in his first college season as a starting pitcher

Tate becomes the third former 1st round pick on the Crawdads current roster, joining fellow pitchers Luis Ortiz (2014) and Collin Wiles (2012).
