Spinners Attempting Fist-Bump World Record, 8/21

Lowell partners with Liam FitzGerald to Bump Out Cancer
August 16, 2015

LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are partnering with Boston Bruins No. 1 fan Liam FitzGerald as the team attempts to "bump out cancer" by setting the Guinness Book World Record for most people fist-bumping at once Friday, August 21 at LeLacheur Park.

"I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who isn't inspired by Liam's courage in battling cancer," said Spinners Vice President of Communications Jon Goode. "He was such a visible part of the Bruins season last year we just wanted to find a way to honor Liam at LeLacheur Park."

A cancer survivor, Liam took the region by storm with his support of the Bruins and now the Spinners will partner with Liam to "Fist-Bump to Fight Cancer." The current world record is 1,082 people fist-bumping simultaneously, a record the Spinners look forward to smashing.

"We look forward to everyone bumping-out cancer, supporting Liam and all those who have battled or are fighting cancer with this show of support."

The Guinness attempt will take place in the middle of the fourth inning as the Spinners take on the Staten Island Yankees, with post-game fireworks to follow. The world record attempt has been approved by Guinness and will become official upon certification after the event.

Tickets for the game remain available at www.LowellSpinners.com.
