Rain postpones River Bandits, Timber Rattlers on Tuesday

Quad Cities and Wisconsin will begin series with doubleheader at 6 p.m. Wednesday
August 18, 2015

Rain postponed Tuesday's game between the Quad Cities River Bandits and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Modern Woodmen Park. The game is scheduled to be made up in a doubleheader at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with gates opening at 5 p.m. Individual tickets for Tuesday's game may be exchanged at the Modern Woodmen Park box office for any remaining 2015 home game.

The River Bandits (30-19 second half, 75-42 overall) will host Wisconsin (17-31, 40-78) for a pair of seven-inning games Wednesday. In Game 1, River Bandits right-hander Justin Ferrell (3-2) is scheduled to face Timber Rattlers right-hander Angel Ventura (6-5). In Game 2, River Bandits right-hander Dean Deetz (1-1) is scheduled to face Timber Rattlers left-hander Kodi Medeiros (4-2).

Tuesday marked the seventh postponement - sixth at home - this season for the River Bandits (in addition to one cancellation and one game called in a tie through six innings) and the fourth of the season for the Timber Rattlers. It was also the second time the two teams were washed out, as they had a July 16 rainout in Wisconsin.

Quad Cities has played five home doubleheaders - splitting ones against Burlington, Clinton, Lansing and Great Lakes, and being swept by Peoria. Wisconsin has split its two road doubleheaders against Beloit and Peoria.

The River Bandits' only road doubleheader and the Timber Rattlers' only home doubleheader came July 17 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium, where they split the two games, with the River Bandits winning Game 1, 4-2, and Wisconsin taking Game 2, 3-2.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: With the installation of the Ferris Wheel, the River Bandits ownership in 2014 made one of the biggest improvements to Modern Woodmen Park since the ballpark was first built back in 1931, and this year the club is matching that effort by opening three new areas. A two-tiered special group deck immediately behind and overlooking the corn field opened in June. A new 11,000-square-foot concourse expansion down the third-base line will open in July. Finally, the club is expanding the children's play area by an additional 5,500 square feet down the right-field line. New rides will be announced upon completion of these new areas.
