Suns 7th Annual Chili Cook Off and Music Festival
On Saturday September 25th at Municipal Stadium, gates will open for the Suns Chili Cook Off and Music Festival at 12 noon, and this Hagerstown staple will last until 5pm.
Up to 30 varieties of chili can be tasted to the soundtrack of some great area bands. Chili Awards will be given out to the People's Choice, the Best Booth Display, and the 1ST 2ND, and 3RD place Best Chili.
The charitable funds generated through the Hagerstown Suns 2010 Chili Cook Off will aid Teens Have Choices. Also known as the Washington County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition, Teens Have Choices is a nonprofit organization devoted to equipping teens to make healthy decisions that will impact their futures, and helping parents make an impact on their teens' decisions. The Coalition is made up of representatives from many sectors of the community: government, social services, education, healthcare, and businesses, as well as local parents and teens.
Proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off will help fund special events, such as the Teen IDEA Challenge, which brings together community organizations to present a day of fun and educational activities for teens.
The Coalition's goal is to reduce both the consistently high number of teen's giving birth and the steadily increasing rates of sexually transmitted infections among youth in our County.
The Chili Cook-Off has already raised over $90,000 for charity in the past six years.
