Blue Jays trade Randy Wolf to Tigers

Veteran southpaw was 9-2 in stellar year with the Bisons

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have traded Buffalo Bisons LHP RANDY WOLF to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations.

Wolf, two days shy of his 39th birthday, was 9-2 with a 2.58 ERA in a Bisons' team-high 23 starts. The southpaw leads the Herd with 106 strikeouts and ranks 3rd in the International League in ERA, 1st in winning pct. (.818) and 4th in innings pitched (139.2). He was the IL Pitcher of the Week from July 20-26, and was 4-1 with a 1.74 ERA in six starts since the All-Star break.

On the season, the Bisons were 15-8 in games started by Wolf. He worked five innings or more in 21 of his 23 starts and worked into the seventh inning on 11 occasions. Five times this season, the southpaw gave the Bisons seven shutout innings and he yielded three earned runs or fewer a total of 18 times. Wolf also allowed just four home runs in 571 total batters faced and started a 1-4-3 triple-play in a victory in Indianapolis on June 1.
