Alex Gordon Begins Rehab Assignment with Storm Chasers Sunday

Royals All-Star and Nebraska native to make first appearance at Werner Park
August 20, 2015

OMAHA, Neb. - Kansas City Royals All-Star and Gold Glove Outfielder Alex Gordon, and Nebraska native, is set to appear with the Omaha Storm Chasers for a Major League Rehab Assignment beginning Sunday, August 23. It will be Gordon's first professional appearance in Omaha since the 2010 season.

Gordon has been named a Gold Glove Outfielder in each of the last four seasons, the only Royals player besides Frank White to win the award in four consecutive years. He has been selected to represent the Royals in the last three All-Star Games, but has not participated in the 2014 or 2015 game due to injury. In addition, Gordon has won the Les Milgram Royals Player of the Year during the 2011 season.

Appearing in 86 total games for the Omaha Royals during the 2009-2010 seasons, Gordon was named a Pacific Coast League All-Star during the 2010 season. He has not appeared in a game at Werner Park in his career, with his last game in an Omaha uniform coming on July 20, 2010.

Gordon was named a First-Team All-American in his sophomore and junior seasons at the University of Nebraska, one of only two players in the school's history to achieve the honor twice. He was the Golden Spikes Award winner in 2005, the same season he led the Cornhuskers to the College World Series. Gordon was also a two-time Nebraska Player of the Year at Lincoln Southeast High School.
