3-0 Shutout Sends Nuts to Fifth Straight Loss

Modesto, CA. - For the second straight night, the Modesto Nuts' offense was shutdown leading to a 3-0 loss to the Stockton Ports on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.

The loss sends the Nuts (62-60; 29-24) into a three-way tie for the California League's North Division Wild Card lead.

Ports (62-61; 25-28) starter Casey Meisner (W, 1-1) tossed five shutout innings and allowed just two singles. At one point the righty retired eleven in a row while striking out five and walking none.

Lou Trivino followed and was lights out over three innings while striking out five. Ben Bracewell (S, 5/6) worked around a leadoff walk by retiring the final three hitters in a row to end the Nuts' night.

Alex Balog (L, 2-6) worked 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a season-high-tying three walks. Michael Soto drove in a pair of runs. Trent Gilbert added a RBI single in the sixth.
