Durham Goes for Sweep of Toledo Tonight

Bulls' offense looks to stay hot against Mud Hens
August 21, 2015

The Durham Bulls (61-66) go for the sweep of the Toledo Mud Hens (51-74) Friday night at 7:05 in the finale of their three-game set. Following the game will be a Friday Night Fireworks show presented by Bruce Hill of RE/MAX One Realty.

Coming off a 9-1 win last night, Durham sends LHP Scott Diamond (10-5, 3.56) to the hill. The veteran is tied for second in the league with 10 victories, and he has not allowed an earned run over his last 13.0 innings pitched. The southpaw is making his 22nd start for Durham this season, and he has surrendered three earned runs or fewer in 17 of his first 21.

On the hill for Toledo is RHP Luis Cessa (1-1, 6.61), who was acquired by Detroit from the New York Mets in the Yoenis Cespedes deal on July 31. The 23-year-old has allowed 12 earned runs over his first three starts with Toledo, after pitching for both Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas in the Mets' system prior to the trade.

Over the first two games of this series the Bulls have pounded out 26 runs and 38 hits. Mikie Mahtook and Ryan Brett each have six hits over the last two games, while Richie Shaffer, Taylor Motter and JP Arencibia have all contributed five hits this series.
