Max Murphy activated from DL

Chris Paul placed on DL; Blake Schmit activated from DL and promoted to Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Max Murphy has been activated from the 7-day disabled list; OF Chris Paul has been placed on the 7-day DL with a right shoulder impingement; and INF Blake Schmit has been activated from the 7-day DL and promoted to Fort Myers (FSL). Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Murphy went on the DL back on July 19th with a left oblique strain. He has played in 77 games for the Kernels this season, batting .227 with 4 HR and 30 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 9th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Bradley University.

Schmit went on the DL on June 11th with a left facial fracture after being hit by a pitch in the Kernels game vs. Great Lakes on June 10th. He played in 18 games for the Kernels this season, he was batting .226 (14-62) with a home run and 12 RBI and was selected by the Twins in the in the 26th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland - College Park.

Paul joined the Kernels on August 9th from Elizabethton. The Twins selected him in the 6th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of California and in six games for the Kernels, he is batting .167 (4-24) with two runs scored.

Murphy is active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM game at Clinton. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with nine players currently on the DL.

The Kernels begin a three game commuter series tonight at 6:30 PM against the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, August 24th to open a six game home stand against Peoria and Kane County.
