1984 Detroit Tigers World Series Trophy to Appear at Jerry Uht Park

August 21, 2015

The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are pleased to announce that the Tigers' 1984 World Series Championship trophy will be on display on Tigers Affiliate Day, Friday, August 28, at Jerry Uht Park thanks to Plyler Overhead Door Company.

Fans will have the opportunity to view and take photos with the Commissioner's Trophy during the game.

"We are thrilled to partner with the SeaWolves to bring the Commissioner's Trophy to Erie and support the launch of the SeaWolves Community Fund," Jeff Plyler, Owner & CEO of Plyler Overhead Door Company said.

In addition to the World Series trophy, legendary Detroit Tigers shortstop Alan Trammell will be on hand for a special VIP Meet and Greet Picnic and one-hour general autograph session. In his 20-year Major League career (all with the Tigers), Trammell earned six Major League All-Star selections, four Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, and 1984 World Series Most Valuable Player honors. Alan currently serves as a Special Assistant to Detroit Tigers General Manager Al Avila.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating our affiliation with the Tigers," Fernando Aguirre, SeaWolves Owner & CEO said. "This is a unique opportunity for Erie fans to see and take photos with the 1984 World Series trophy and meet Tigers great Alan Trammell."

The trophy is presented each year by the Commissioner of Major League Baseball to the team that wins the World Series. Recent trophy designs contain flags representing each team in North America's top two leagues, the National League and the American League.
