Bulls Continue Homestand Against Clippers Tonight
The Durham Bulls (62-66) continue their five-game homestand Saturday with the first of two games against the Columbus Clippers (72-55) at 6:35 p.m. Tonight's game features an appearance by the ZOOperstars and a postgame fireworks show presented by JT's Landscaping.
Coming off a three-game sweep of Toledo to open the homestand, Durham sends LHP Matt Moore (2-2, 3.86) to the mound in search of his second straight victory. The southpaw allowed three runs in seven innings in his last outing, and is unbeaten in three starts since he joined the Bulls on Aug. 7.
Making the start for Columbus is RHP Toru Murata (13-4, 2.96), who leads the IL in wins and ranks seventh in ERA. The native of Japan has won eight straight starts, as he hasn't suffered a defeat since July 3 at Louisville. Despite the Bulls and Clippers meeting seven times already this season, Murata has yet to pitch against Durham.
The Bulls will look to keep their offense going against Columbus after scoring 33 runs in their three-game set against the Mud Hens. INF/OF Richie Shaffer is 8-for-15 with three homers over this homestand, while Mikie Mahtook has seven hits in his last three games.
