Pitcher Mark Rogers Promoted

Stars' right-handed pitcher gets September call up
September 10, 2010
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The magic number keeps climbing with September call ups. RHP Mark Rogers has been promoted to the big league club and will join the Brewers against the Chicago Cubs tonight at Miller Park.

Rogers makes the seventh, yes seventh, Huntsville Star to reach the big leagues this year alone. He joins other pitchers Mike McClendon, Jeremy Jeffress, All-Star closer Brandon Kintzler, catcher Jonathan Lucroy, infielder Mat Gamel, and All-Star outfielder Lorenzo Cain on the Brewers active roster. Rogers is the fourth Star to get called up in September. Jeffress, Kintzler and Gamel were all September call ups as well.

Rogers spent most of the 2010 season with the Stars, making a brief appearance in Triple-A Nashville. In 24 starts with Huntsville this season, the righty went 6-8 with a 3.71 ERA. The Brewers top draft pick in 2004, Rogers posted impressive numbers this season, allowing just 69 walks and striking out 111 in 111 2/3 innings.

The Stars ended their regular season on Monday, September 6, going 67-73. The 2011 season starts on Thursday, April 7.
