Delcarmen promoted to Triple-A

Portland, Maine -- The Boston Red Sox have announced that right-handed pitcher Manny Delcarmen has been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket. The move was made following Tuesday night's 5-0 win at Trenton. No other move has yet been announced.

In 31 games with the Sea Dogs Delcarmen posted a 4-4 record with 3 saves and a 3.23 ERA. In 39.0 innings of work he struck out 49 batters and walked 20. He was particularly tough on the road where he had an ERA of 1.48 and a 2-1 record with 2 saves. Delcarmen is rated as the #11 prospect in the Red Sox organization by Baseball America. Baseball America also rates Delcarmen as having the "Best Curveball" in the organization.

Delcarmen, a 23 year-old from Hyde Park, Massachusetts was selected by the Red Sox in the June 2000 draft. He was added to the Red Sox 40-man roster on November 20, 2004.

Delcarmen is the fourth top prospect to be promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket this season joining pitcher Jon Papelbon (July 3), second baseman Dustin Pedroia (June 22) and closer Cla Meredith (May 4).

The Sea Dogs are currently in the midst of an eight game road trip that takes them to Trenton, New Jersey and Manchester, New Hampshire leading up to the All-Star break. The Sea Dogs will host the 2005 Hannaford Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 13th at 7:00 PM. The All-Star Game is sold out.
