Drive Making Push for Playoffs
As the Greenville Drive's 2015 regular season approaches the finish line, reaching the South Atlantic League playoffs is still very much in play.
With one game remaining in the season, the Savannah Sand Gnats have already clinched the second half Southern Division title. However, because Savannah won the first half title also, the other Southern Division playoff spot will go to a wild card team that posted the next best overall record for the season. In this scenario, the Drive trail the Asheville Tourists by a half-game.
If the Drive do take home the Southern Division wild card spot, Fluor Field would host game one of the Divisional Championship Series on Wednesday, September 9th at 7:00 PM.
The Drive roster has been a source of top talent in professional baseball all season long, and the team currently features seven players among MLBPipeline's top 20 Red Sox prospects, including 2B Yoan Moncada (#1), 3B Rafael Devers (#2), OF Andrew Benintendi (#6), SS Javier Guerra (#7), RHP Anderson Espinoza (#9), 3B Michael Chavis (#11) and 1B/OF Nick Longhi (#20).
Fans, the playoff dream is still alive for your Drive, so we kindly ask you to "Bring it in, Greenville" and cheer on some of the future Boston Red Sox as they aim to make a run to the South Atlantic League postseason!
