August 31, 2015

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Pacific Coast League announced on Monday Iowa left-handed pitcher Eric Jokisch has been named Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 24-30.

Jokisch went 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA (1ER/13.0IP) and six strikeouts in two starts last week in home starts against Fresno and Sacramento. He tied for the league lead in wins and innings pitched and had the circuit's best ERA during the week.

The weekly honor is Jokisch's third in his minor league career. He won Florida State League Pitcher of the Week honors May 7-13, 2012 with Advanced-A Daytona, and was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week with Double-A Tennessee for the week of August 5-11, 2013.

Jokisch is the first Iowa pitcher to take home weekly honors since Kyle Hendricks won for the week of May 12-18 last season.

The southpaw is 5-3 with a 3.94 ERA (28ER/64.0IP) and 34 strikeouts in 13 starts for Iowa this season.

He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round of the 2010 June draft out of Northwestern University and made his major league debut Sept. 7, 2014 against Pittsburgh at Wrigley Field.
