Kernels Foundation 50/50 raffle presentation

September 14, 2010
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Kernels Foundation presented a check to Amy Geiger and Board Members of the Cedar Rapids School Foundation before the Kernels first home playoff game on Thursday, September 9. The money was raised from a season-long 50/50 raffle, co-sponsored by 98.1 KHAK, at home Kernels games during the 2010 season.

The amount of $17,162 will be divided between six local schools affected by the 2008 flood, which include Jefferson and Metro High Schools; Roosevelt Middle School; and Harrison, Cleveland, and Wilson Elementary schools.

The long-term purpose and vision of the Kernels Foundation is to ensure that all youth in eastern Iowa have the opportunity to experience the thrills and life-enhancing lessons that come from engaging in athletics and recreational activities. Our goal is to build the Kernels Foundation into the quintessential source for raising funds for athletic programs or facilities in need in eastern Iowa.

The Kernels open the 2011 MWL season on the road at Peoria on Thursday, April 3 and host Wisconsin on Monday, April 11. The Kernels will release the entire 2011 MWL schedule in October and start taking reservations for Group Outings and Season Tickets at that time. Visit www.kernels.com for more information.
